Women Leading in Finance Panel, Hosted by WiB x FinSoc
I wanted to share my experience from last night’s Women Leading in Finance Panel, hosted by UTS Women in Business and UTS Finance Society.
As a first-year business student, I’ve been actively trying to explore different areas of the business world—and this event left me feeling more informed not only about the finance sector, but also about how to navigate the corporate world in general.
The three panelists brought such a wealth of experience and insight, and each one left a lasting impression on me:
Jacqueline Michalopoulos really stood out to me. As a recent graduate who found herself in finance unexpectedly, she spoke with such positivity and honesty about how rewarding her journey has been. I found her perspective incredibly refreshing and articulate.
Lynn Donohue approached every question with transparency and grounded advice. You could tell how passionate and knowledgeable she was—her insights felt both practical and empowering. One of my biggest takeaways from her? Read more books!
Crystal Hanna was candid, sincere, and truly inspiring. Hearing about her journey and how she overcame the doubt others had because of her gender was incredibly powerful. Her stories and tips on self-advocacy really stuck with me.
Huge thanks to UTS Women in Business and UTS Finance Society for putting together such a powerhouse panel, and to our wonderful hosts Vanessa Lee and Savera Lather for leading such a thoughtful session.
I definitely walked away feeling empowered—and I’m already looking forward to future events to keep learning and growing.
