What is the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower?
It’s a simple symbol — a lanyard, badge or sticker — that signals the wearer may need extra time, support, or understanding due to a non-visible disability like autism, anxiety, ADHD, chronic illness, PTSD or hearing loss.
Started in the UK in 2016, it’s now used in airports, public transport, hospitals, universities and major events around the world.

Wearing the sunflower is voluntary and self-identified. It doesn’t require proof, a diagnosis, or any explanation. It’s about making the invisible, visible — so others know to approach with empathy.
This is not just a symbol. It’s a conversation starter, a safety net, and for many of us, what makes support feel accessible — without having to ask

To find out more, come to the event. Bring a friend. Listen in.
If you’ve ever wondered how to support someone better, this is a great place to start.
